Screening, Addiction Assessment, Intervention
Chico Recovery Center provides comprehensive screening and addiction assessment to individuals and families to assure placement into the appropriate level of treatment to start a full and successful recovery.
Our staff understands that effective treatment requires a personalized treatment plan that is tailored to each patient’s drug use patterns and dual diagnosis (co-occurring disorders).
Whatever level of care is chosen, the ultimate goal is to motivate each individual to achieve recovery and seek a better quality of life. Making the jump from active addiction to active recovery can seem impossible.
What Is an Intervention?
An intervention is a well thought-out process and plan that can mean the difference between life and death for an addict or alcoholic in crisis.
The purpose of the intervention is to get your friend or loved one to the point where he or she will accept help – and enter into an addiction treatment program.
An addiction intervention is a powerful tool, and they work more often than not. We have Northern California rehab centers that you can check into at any time.
Why Intervention?
Why intervention? Because intervention is a process that can interrupt a potentially life-threatening addiction.
Individuals with a substance abuse problem will often become delusional and deny the reality of their situation. When an addict reaches this point, they will not have the ability to have any real insight into how serious their substance abuse problem has become.

After Intervention – Medical Detox for Drugs or Alcohol
You (or your friend or loved one) have resolved to stop using drugs or alcohol. Congratulations! This is the first step to regaining sobriety and the importance cannot be underestimated.
Determining the need for medical detox will depend on many factors. Elements like your substance of choice, usage interval, and amount come into play. Trying to detox yourself can be a painful, uncomfortable, or even deadly process.
Now, medical detox from the addictive substance/s must occur. Recovery support begins with detox from drugs and alcohol. The right detox program helps individuals through physical withdrawal symptoms and provides the medical assistance needed during this rough time.
Is Quitting on Your Own Harmful?
Depending on the individual’s history of abuse and medical and physical conditions – the severity of detox effects will differ.
However, the risks of detox for all serious drug and alcohol users can be dangerous. Detox should never be attempted alone. A sudden stop of drug and alcohol use can lead to seizures, heart attacks and strokes. In severe cases, unsupervised detox can even cause death.
